Privacy Policy
WANTD lets you save things you love from any store into wishlists, collections and gift registries, and share them. This policy explains what we collect to do that, why, and the choices you have. WANTD is operated by [Company legal name] (“we”).
01What we collect
Your account. Your name, email address and password when you sign up. Passwords are stored by our login provider in hashed form; we never see them.
Your profile. Username, display name, bio and profile photo, if you add them.
What you save. Collections, wishlists and registries, and the items in them: product links, names, prices, sizes, colours, notes and photos. When you add a product link, we fetch the store page to fill in these details and keep a copy of the product photo.
Activity on WANTD. Who you follow, what you save from others, notifications, and reports you submit.
Gift registries. When someone reserves or marks a gift as purchased, we record the gift’s status and the name they give, so the registry owner knows who it’s from. Guests don’t need an account; their browser stores a random code so they can undo their own reservation.
Store visits. When someone opens a product’s store link from WANTD, we record which item was opened, so owners and WANTD can see which links are used.
Usage statistics. Which kinds of pages are opened, shares, and app installs, so we can see how WANTD is used and improve it. Each browser gets a random code, stored in the browser, that isn’t linked to your name; if you’re signed in, visits are linked to your account. We don’t record secret share links, and we skip browsers set to “Do Not Track”. These statistics stay in WANTD’s own database, aren’t shared with anyone, and are deleted after 13 months.
Technical data. Error reports when something breaks (which part of the app and the type of error), and a scrambled (hashed) form of your IP address used briefly to prevent abuse. We don’t keep your IP address itself.
02How we use it
To run WANTD: create your account, save and display your collections, share them as you choose, deliver notifications, and keep registries accurate.
To keep WANTD safe: prevent spam and abuse, review reports, and fix problems.
We don’t sell your personal data, and we don’t show advertising based on it.
03What other people can see
Public collections, your profile and the items in public collections can be seen by anyone and may appear in Explore. Secret collections are only visible to people with the link. You choose the visibility of each collection and can change it at any time.
Registry owners see the names guests give when reserving or buying a gift.
04Services that help run WANTD
We use a small number of providers, under agreements that limit their use of data to providing their service to us:
- Supabase: database, login and photo storage, hosted in the European Union (Frankfurt).
- Cloudflare: website hosting, security and delivery.
- Zyte and Microlink: fetch store pages from the product links you add. They receive the product link, not your account details.
- An email provider: sends account emails such as sign-up confirmation and password reset.
Your data may be processed outside your country by these providers. We rely on their contractual safeguards when it is.
06How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account is open. When you delete your account, your profile, collections, items, photos, saves, follows and notifications are deleted straight away. We keep a record that an account was deleted, without your personal details. Usage statistics are deleted after 13 months. Abuse-prevention data is kept for a short time only. Error reports are kept for a limited period to fix problems.
07Your choices and rights
You can edit your profile and collections, change their visibility, and delete items at any time.
You can delete your account yourself in Settings → Account & security.
You can ask us for a copy of your data, or to correct it, by emailing [privacy@wantdme.com]. Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under data-protection law, including the right to complain to your local data-protection authority.
08Children
WANTD isn’t intended for children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we’ll remove it.
09Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we’ll update the date above and let you know in the app.
